Approve, but barely. A's are you trying to rebuild?
Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, Cardinals, Rockies may vote on trade. Since we have 6 owners, if there is a tie, another GM will step in and be the tiebreaker

I know Im not on the trade committee, and Im not trying to stir up sh*t....but this is a bad trade for the A's IMO.....his team is pretty bad, and if he's REALLY trying to rebuild, this is not a good way. Ichrio is nothing more than a VERY high priced avg OF that may not have any good years left, Ethier is a shell of his former self, stats trending downward for the last couple years now. Brox coming off surgery and was horrid before, Heilman is worthless to a rebuilding team. Kershaw is one of the best young pitchers in baseball and is cheap! Not a smart move for a rebuilding team.

VETO! This is the best pitcher in the NL for a bunch of high salary players that Royals is trying to dump off!
Ichiro WAS an All-star and Eithier wasn't that great last year. Broxton is out of a job, and Melancon was inconsistent and is young.
For Kershaw!?

I am going to say Veto just for the simple fact of the two outfielders, Either has been on a downward spiral and Ichiro is older for a stud P. Its not that far off, just with the youth that the Royals have, if the A's needs to rebuild he could have three young players back that contribute this year.

A's told me he was trying to contend this year. Ill first address broxton. Rockies has always claimed he is out of a job. He is not. He is a free agent with according to sources has about 10 teams interested in him. You think if a team is gonna had a closers job to joe Nathan someone isn't going to for broxton? Next ethier, yes ecryone his power number were down this year but to say he is declining and spiraling down is a little extreme. He doubles were about on track with 2010 and he his avg was just over 290 (which is higher than his career avg) in fact his avg of 292 in 2011 was exactly the same in 2010 and higher than 2009 (granted he hit more homers ) the past two years haven't everyones homers around the league gone down? Just something to consider. Lastly, about ethier did he not put together an impressive hitting streak this year and have a phenomenal first half? Doesn't sound like a player on a downward spiral to me. Lastly ichiro, out of the two outfielders he had to more sub par year but he hit over 270 with 40 steals. That is awfully respectable for a career worst year. The guy made the all star team TEN straight years. Something to consider about his "declining" stats. His 2010 avg was still higher than his 2003, 2005, and 2008 season averages. So while he did gets 200 hits for the first time on 11 years he is still a VERY quality player.
So my real question is to Yankees because rockies is going to keep his veto if I added cy young himself. Mets said I should add a late round pick and you said I should add a young arm. What if I added the 2nd and 3rd picks I have? You said it wasn't far off so would that be enough to get you to approve?

To me if he is giving up a stud young pitcher, he should get value back. I would say someone like this. OF: Peter Bourjos (.4M) (.4M) (arb) or SP: Derek Holland (.4M) (arb.)
BN: Mike Minor (.4M) (.4M) (arb) 1B/OF: Logan Morrison (.4M) (1.5M) (3M) (6M) (8M
Thats just my opinion. I think that would balance it out. He doesnt have a huge drop off at pitching.

Surprising that this deal went down, A's told me that Kershaw was "not moving." I would have beaten this. offer.
That said, this deal needs some serious justication. A's, please explain your logic before I can approve this deal.

Last thing Im going to say on this trade, then you guys can do what you want with it.....
Ethier the last three seasons....Runs have dropped, hits dropped, doubles stayed about the same, HR dropped significantly, RBI dropped significantly, K's and Avg stayed about the same, OPS dropped significantly, and slugging % dropped big time...thats a 3 year trend downwards...Ichiro is 38, coming off the worst season of his career....the fact that he's a 10 time all-star means nothing, the fact that he's coming off the worst season of his career does. Sure, he had 40SB....that just means hes a one tool OF thats almost 40 and costs a BOATLOAD of money. I think you would have to add quite a bit to even this deal out.

Ichiro is no longer an all star outfielder. Bonifacio and Cam Maybin had the same numbers with 100+ less AB's.

This deal is at 2-2 and Cardinals is undecided and Red Sox needs a vote. I am going to keep my vote. But the "vetoers" make great points.
